Add windpower?

Dear all

I am currently struggling with information for a small sensor project.

I have a LORA Feather with a logger wing and a couple of sensors on it. With that I have a MCP73871 based charger with a solar panel and battery.

I want to add a low-cost DIY wind generator, as I can expect wind as good energy input, such as in this example: here.

But how to connect it to prevent over-voltage (might reach 7V), but to load efficiently?

Just with a shotky diode in between?

Or is a voltage dopler the solution: Making Voltage Doublers and Multipliers | REUK.co.uk

Or do I need a bridge rectifier for AC to DC conversion?

Or a buck converter ?

Thanks in advance.

The generator you linked is just a brushed DC motor, so it will generate a DC voltage.

The first step is to buy the generator, set it up in a location where it will typically be used, and measure the output voltage and current, for some period of time and under many different weather conditions, so you know what to expect. The circuitry comes later.

Note that you can't allow moisture to get into the motor housing, as that will ruin it.
