Adding code tags after you've already posted without code tags

If you’re being badgered to use code tags here are some options brief which offer relief.

Firstly, autoformat your code in the IDE with ctrl+t !

Open the offending post(s) for editing with the gray pencil icon.

Cut the code to the clipboard.  Click on the bracket icon in the editing window.

so this appears:

```
type or paste code here
```

Paste your code between the triple single quotes backticks* like so:

and it’ll look like this.

void setup() {
Serial.begin(115200);
}

void loop() {
}

Notice the bolding and highlighting

If you prefer you can just type in the opening and closing triple quotes backticks (above the Tab key and left of the ‘1’ key), the effect is the same.

If you like you can even still use the old style code tags
void setup() {
Serial.begin(115200);
}

void loop() {
}
Doing this will end the torture and progress can begin. :hugs:

* backticks - hat tip @pert!

Thanks @dougp!

To avoid confusion, I recommend referring to them as “backticks”, which is the term in common use in the context of Markdown. Single quotes are something else (' vs `).

Yes, I see the difference now.  I’m going to edit the post.
