Adressable LED's sometimes work..

A Nano, on USB supply, can power about eight (3*20mA) addressable RGB LEDs at full brightness.
Any more than that, and the USB backflow diode will melt off the board.
With 9volt on V-in, things are worse.

144 LEDs is 144 * 0.06 (full brightness)= 8.64Amp.
IMHO too much current for the conductors of the strip, so you have to power the strip at smaller intervals or at both ends.
