Me. I have I2C working over about 25 to 30m of cable with no issues. Use a low clock frequency, 10kHz would be a good start if possible. Use 2 twisted pairs, I use telephone cable, I'd expect cat 5 cable to work as well. If the remote device has its own power put ground on 1 wire of each pair then SCL on the other wire of one pair and SDA on the remaining wire. You can probably go down to 1k pull up resistors, but try higher values first. I'd consider such a setup satisfactory for hobby us…
