Has anyone figured out how to view the forum without the ads?
Two dirty ways com to mind...
-
Block supplyframe.com at the firewall. (There will probably be a visible empty space where the ad would have been.)
-
Make div, id = "ad_container_zone" hidden using the browser's default style sheet.
Fair warning: I have not tried either.
The NoScript browser extension blocks the ads and there is only a small empty space left behind.
I'm not against Arduino having some ads. It's beneficial to the Arduino community for them to be financially successful. However, I don't at all like how they interleaved the ad with the forum thread. That sort of thing ruined the esp8266.com forum. In that case, they would have actually made more money if they hadn't been so greedy.
Scriptsafe here and not even a small empty space.
Just like they were never there in the first place.
Also available for some other browsers too.
There are a few other extensions that will do the same thing such as ABP etc.
Close your eyes
If they updated the forums, all they did here was ad some lines to inject adverts...
Hi,
What ads? ? ?
All i have is AdBlocker
Tom...
What forum...All I have here is no internet
Suddenly, I have the unexplained and urgent (URGENT) need to buy a MKR board. I don't know why.
What Ads?????
Can someone post a screen shot of the Ads please....
Tom...
Nope, never seen it...
Sweet. Adblocker seems to work on this ugly blot on the internet.
Why did they decide to advertise here, in the body of every thread? With the same ad, in the same place. This is very 20th century web advertising style. And the people it irritates most are those who have been working for Arduino for free.
The admins never answer our requests, but then foist ads on us.
Thanks Arduino. :-X
Yep, I disabled Adblocker and it appeared.
Tom...
What ads? I guess my pihole must be working.
No adds here, and I also added some custom filters to Adblock Plus to remove the annoying big hopping top bar.
I almost left when they introduced that 'feature'.
Leo..
What ads? I guess my ad blockers have worked for years.
Oh.. wait.. those little bars for the shop store that look like sig space material?
Pffffft. What ads?
