Advice for RFID reader and fobs?

I'm looking for an RFID system that has two types of readers:

  • one where the user swipes their fob over the reader

  • another where they can walk through a "portal" (door) and have their card read.

Does anyone have any advice towards that?

And any advice on the fobs?

Seeing as you haven't offered any guidance on any experience you have of RFID I can only suggest the following:

The greater the distance between sensor and card, the higher frequency the unit needs to operate at. And the higher the frequency, the higher the cost.

And a common misconception is that cards need to be 'swiped'. They don't, they just need to be held close enough to the sensor.
