Advice to those of us learning to program in C/C++

Saw this comment on the slashdot site:

more often a semicolon with c/c++ though

Compilers are the ultimate pedants.

I used to use a Pascal compiler that would say something like ‘semi-colon missing after final end’.

To which I would reply: ‘if you know its missing, why the **** can’t you put it in yourself’

I knew a bartender just like that.

Pointers, pointers, pointers. Once you get past the really simple stuff, these will haunt you for the rest of your life. They make quantum mechanics look simple and I should know, I got my degree in physics

Learning an assembly language is useful for understanding higher-level languages. Especially for understanding C pointers…
