ADXL345 did not work properly

Hello, I just opened my toolbox and found my unused ADXL345 acceleration sensor. Now, I want to use it for my personal project, of course for reading acceleration.

But after I wired and uploaded the code to the arduino, I encountered few problems.

  1. when I placed my sensor in a flat place (not moving), a static number showed (slightly changing, around 0.04-0.1 m/s^2) in Y and Z direction, but in X direction, the changes was more unstable (up to 5 m/s^2)
  2. when I tilted my sensor, the numbers stay the same.
    I used arduino nano and used an example code from the adafruit library just for testing whether the sensor can read the acceleration or not. The code is like
#include <Wire.h>
#include <Adafruit_Sensor.h>
#include <Adafruit_ADXL345_U.h>

/* Assign a unique ID to this sensor at the same time */
Adafruit_ADXL345_Unified accel = Adafruit_ADXL345_Unified(12345);

  sensor_t sensor;
  accel.getSensor(&sensor);
  Serial.println("------------------------------------");
  Serial.print  ("Sensor:       "); Serial.println(sensor.name);
  Serial.print  ("Driver Ver:   "); Serial.println(sensor.version);
  Serial.print  ("Unique ID:    "); Serial.println(sensor.sensor_id);
  Serial.print  ("Max Value:    "); Serial.print(sensor.max_value); Serial.println(" m/s^2");
  Serial.print  ("Min Value:    "); Serial.print(sensor.min_value); Serial.println(" m/s^2");
  Serial.print  ("Resolution:   "); Serial.print(sensor.resolution); Serial.println(" m/s^2");

  Serial.println("");

and the wiring from sensor pins to arduino pins:
GND -> GND
VCC -> 3.3V
SDA -> A4
SCL -> A5

can anyone help or ever faced same problem before?

fyi, i made a mistake earlier for connecting the VCC pins from ADXL345. I connected the pins to 5V in arduino, but a minute later I realize that I should connect it to 3.3V to get a safer voltage. I hope it do not harm the sensor.

Absolute maximum rating for any pin is 3.6V. Its toasted.
