Hello everyone,
I want to do a project related to bottling alcohol.
For the project I need to measure the flow rate of alcoholic drink.
Is there a sensor that you can recommend that can measure flow rates of alcoholic drink?
thanks
Eilon
If you want to measure into a bottle, that is pretty demanding and you may need a positive deiplacement device, rather like a peristaltic pump in reverse, and indeed a measured flow pump may be what you want, not a sensor.. For more general work, there is a raft of cheap simple paddle wheel hall effect devices that work well with Arduino. I have had trouble determining actual flow rate, but they can be remarkably accurate in delivering flow quantity.
For your own peace of mind, I guess you will need one that is specified food grade. Maybe they all are. I saw a cheap one recently that is a spare part for a commercial coffee machine. I believe the Swissflow 800 is food grade. It is a very good turbine but I found the electrical connections fragile!
Since your alcohol will dissolve many type of plastic over time, either test what you have or get devices made to handle alcohol.

I'd suggest looking at the Kegduino for ideas http://kegduino.org/ . They use flow sensors to measure the amount of beer dispensed.
