Alfa Wireless Adapter + Arduino

I began some research in the purchasing of 1 of the WIFI shields available.
In doing so I remembered I own an Alfa Long Range WIFI Adapter. My question is, is it possible to interface the Alfa adapter with the Arduino and use it as a sort of wifi shield.

I am rather new to working with the Arduino and my expertise lies in flash as3/AIR

If the Alfa adapter is for a PC the short answer is no.

It requires drivers and processing power that Arduino can not deal with.
