All about Wireless

This maybe somewhere in the Playground but have yet to find it.

What are the pros and cons of each of the possible wireless technologies (RF, Nordic, XBee, Bluetooth).

What I am interested in mostly is speed. I am trying to build a system similar to that of Guitar Hero, where there is a box plugged into the computer that talks to wireless controllers.

There will be between 6 and 10 objects for prototyping and should be able to handle more. So the Receiver needs to be capable to maintain alot of incoming connections.

The objects themselves need to be able to make many connections per second because otherwise the remote toys wont be responsive enough.

I am currently playing with an RF Link pair from Seeedstudio.com, but the transmitter can only get out 1-2 connections per second. Is this as fast as i'm going to get with the arduino setup?

Also, which wireless technologies are viable with the Mini and Mini Pro?

I would look at Chapter 6 of Tom Igoe's book Making Things Talk.

There is an excellent discussion in there about the pros and cons of the various flavors of wireless communications for connected objects.
