All terrain cube with tank treads

I'm thinking of making a cube with two tank treads with a friend, with all parts in the middle and 1m of treads in the shape of a square on both sides. So it can roll, and even collapse into a rectangle when driven off a table and spring back into a cube. So some what like a suspension.

My first question is does anywhere online sell meter long/adjustable treads?

Second question is, is this feasible within roughly 16 weeks, including time to oder parts to Australia? Or is this feasible at all?

I'll probably put updates(drawings, diagrams and pictures, if I do go with this project) here and there in this topic, since I'm sure that I'll need help sooner or later.

Well, you can probably figure out your first question on your own, just try googling it.
And, I've never ordered anything from Australia, so I don't know, but if you sit down one day with a big bundle of cash and order it all, being absolutely sure about what you need, and then kick your butt into gear to build in, you can probably finish it in like 4 months. MAYBE.
This seems like a cool project, and sounds very challenging. My question to you is; do you have any experience? If not, try to build up to this. Trust me, I jumped into a robot first thing with arduino, and it kicked my butt and is still fighting me.

Well, if you have extreme amounts of $$$ to get it done it might be possible.

look at lego

You're asking us to judge YOUR level of competence. With a fully equipped workshop and all the raw materials, this could be completed in a couple of days ( assuming that the plans have already been drawn up ).

I'm confident about building this, I'm just slightly worried about finding the 1m long treads because I'v searched for the past hour and can't find anything near 1m

Would it work if i bought treads and cut them and attach them together?

Edit: I have most of the rough plans drawn, a weeks work should be enough to get them to an acceptable state to start working on it.

I've searched for about 20 seconds with "threaded rod australia" in google. First result comes up with THIS

By treads I meant tank treads/tracks.

My bad for not clarifying.

Oh sorry, I think that was actually my fault. I read it as THREADS

Looking at the industrial type stuff (for low loaders etc.. ) those things are king expensive.

You might use snow blower tracks or slice up snowmobile tracks like below. I've seen DIY wooden tracks that you might be able to make. Search google.

I suspect they'll be hard to come by in Australia  Shame they look great value for the money.

I found some Tamiya treads that look like they can be linked. Can anyone confirm?
