Almost lost work

In the last few days I've had more than the usual "post is open in another window" or whatever it sez.

And hitting Rreply might bring up a blank window, not a saved draft.

So far my wild panicked stabbing has always resulted in recovery of whatever I was in the middle of.

I write not for sympathy but just to see if I am alone in this.

This was all on late model iPads somewhat up to date on iOS. no recent change of significance on my end other than being older.

I get that periodically and I've found that just closing that pop-up has no ill effects.

Hi @alto777.

I'm guessing you are referring to the "Draft is being edited in another window. Please reload this page. dialog:

The developers of the Discourse forum framework (which is what produces this dialog) are tracking the spurious appearance of that dialog here:

Note that it is intended and expected for the dialog to appear when you do in fact have multiple instances of the post composer open for a single forum topic.

There is a previous discussion on the subject here:

Thank you. What I am experience is beyond that.

And luckily it just happened:

Composing a reply.

I park it "Save draft for later".

I browse the thread not leaving the page to get a few details for my response,.

I hit reply to continue and get… a blank reply window.

Now I don't know if I trashed the blank reply, probably.

Try again, same blank reply.

I refreshed the page and got my reply in progress like normal. I finiched my post and sent it up.

So "Draft in nother window?" didn't enter in to and…

it just happened with this very reply when I parked it to get the exact wording that I won't try again to get.

New. Different. Problem. I expected to find misery for company.

I did only see it once in the past week; it was very persistent and I always click "ignore". From memory, after clicking the "submit" button the forum software crashed with below message.

I did not loose much, just the last sentence (I type slowly )

If it happens to you again, I think the easiest way to get back to your post is the following procedure:

  1. Open the "Drafts" page for your account:
    https://forum.arduino.cc/my/activity/drafts
    • You can get to this page by clicking your profile picture at the top right of the forum page, then the "Profile icon on the right side of the menu that opens, then select "Drafts" from the menu.
  2. The page will contain a list of all your in progress posts. The first item in the list should be the lost post. Click the 🖉 button to the right side of that item.

The topic page will now open, with the post composer populated with your in progress post.

Nice trick I would not have thought to try. I hope it works as well as hoping I remember to try it.

Added: It happened elsewhere again. I did trash the empty reply and indeed what I was working on found itself in my drafts area as you thought.
