alternate range sensor ?

Hi,
I wanted to know if there was alternatives to IR and Ultrasound range sensors. I thought of:

  • autofocus elements (founds in some cameras)
  • laser beam sensors (in some telemeters)
and wondered if any of you had experience with those and where to buy ???
    Thanks

You could train a bat to use its sonar and then squeal at certain pitch according to the distance that it measures with the sonar. There you go. Simple and effective.

How about get a monkey with a paddleball? Put a stretch sensor instead of a rubberband. When the ball hits something, it bounces and hits the monkey. The monkey screams, and you use the last measurement from the sensor to tell the distance!

haha veeeery smart guys. Did you did connect your brain directly to GND for that kind of answer ? I was expecting more constructive answers.

Sorry for the useless answers.
And my brain wasn't connected to ground It was just a floating input.
