Hey folks,
Looking for an alternative to a GPS, to figure out the position of something.
The project is as follow: I want to motorised an existing lawn mower, and get it to "do its thing" on its own. I don't see any major problem with the mechanical aspect of it.
My intention was to use a RaspberryPI to do the math, and the Arduino to do the work.
My real problem is with positioning itself on the grass. GPS have an accuracy around 2.5M which is WAY TOO much for what I want to do. That thing is gonna eat my wife's flower like crazy, which is not good at all for me ! Not good ...
Ideally, I would like something within a few CMs. I'm OK installing some kind of emitter around to do some tracking. I'm also OK, digging and placing wire around all the "must be protected like crazy" items. Captured position could be transmitted to the RaspberryPI for analysis, then movement commands sent back to the Arduino.
Any of you have an idea that would actually work ?
Please note, that I'm not on a tight budget (not the NASA either...). I'm OK throwing a few 100$ if needed, but I want something that will actually work !
TIA
BTW: distance to cover is about 40M x 60M (125 ft x 200 ft)
