Alternatives to SparkFun £25 Conductive Thread?

The SparkFun stuff is £25.00 (excluding tax) here in the UK, anyone found any cunning cheap alternatives?

You can get them for £20.55 + vat from this place: http://www.skpang.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=140_158&products_id=439

I think he's after a bigger saving than 0.86p ;)

Maybe take your multimeter to the local sewing/cloth/craft store and start checking the metalic type threads and such they have available.

At the shop I use I have just asked the person that works there and she pointed me right at the island and type I was looking for.

It is amazing how expensive thread can be considering you can get 1,320 Feet of 14 Guage Aluminum Electric Fence Wire for $29.99.

It won't be as comfortable as thread but the point is that someone is trying to make a killing whereas other people aren't.

You can basically get 440 yards of 14 guage aluminum for about $29 and 75 or 150 yards of conductive thread for $29 and $20 at Sparkfun.

Well if you look at the quantities of each that are sold and the low tech-ness of wire against flexibility of conductive thread then I don't think anyone's being ripped off. Especially when you consider that the thread is coated in silver.

I do remember seeing it being sold by the yard from a UK site some time ago. That might be cheaper if you don't want so much.
