How often do you find yourself using the word "Amperage"?
rarely
Practically never and then only in mockery, derision.
It's current and voltage.
A former employer had a test rig with digital displays labelled "voltage meter" and "current meter".
I try to correct people when they say amperage or wattage. Also, why shouldn't "voltage" be "potential"?
it gives the interns false hope to tell them "you have a lot of potential there"
Going into my next performance review:
"You have lot of voltage, you just need to apply yourself to your wattage."
Never. I'd hope to think you wouldn't find anyone with proper electrical education using the term.
