AMS117 3.3v getting real hot when supplied with 7.4v

Hi, im using an nrf module with an adaptor board that drops the voltage to 3.3v. i am using 2 18650 batteries(3.7v 2000mah) to supply power to the nrf adaptor, arduino uno and 2 joysticks. The ams117 on the adaptor board is getting real hot. When i supply it with the pc usb, it stays normal and there is no short anywhere. What should i do?
Here is the link to the modules

Do you mean you have a USB cable connected to the adaptor Vcc and GND?

No.

Well how is the PC USB getting to the adaptor board

1117's need serious cooling when working under high load (>100mA) and high voltages (>+3V from output voltage).

It's sort of normal.

As I see, NRF24L01 consumes 55 - 115mA. So, 7.4V-3.3V = 4.1V voltage drop over AMS1117 regulator. 4.1V x 0.115A = 0.47W of dissipation max. What is "real hot", post the schematic or clear photo of your setup, maybe something else is wrong.

The adaptor board should not get hot.
So you must have a wiring error somewhere.
