An error occurred while uploading the sketch

I also am having issues trying to load Blink. This is what I get. What is wrong?
Thanks

Arduino: 1.8.12 (Windows 10), Board: "Arduino Uno"

Sketch uses 924 bytes (2%) of program storage space. Maximum is 32256 bytes.
Global variables use 9 bytes (0%) of dynamic memory, leaving 2039 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2048 bytes.
An error occurred while uploading the sketch

This report would have more information with
"Show verbose output during compilation"
option enabled in File -> Preferences.

I have the Arduino Uno with CNC Shield. GRBL v1.1.12 Everything went in fine up to the point I described above.

@ctbruce

Remove the shield as it is no good for most normal sketches.
Turn on VERBOSE for uploading in the preferences.
Close and Restart the IDE

Then try to upload BLINK.
