An HDMI capturer. Feasible?

Hi everybody,

as we all know a decent HDMI capture card costs at least 70$. Would it be possible to do one with arduino, and of course, cheaper?

Would any of the arduinos or another development board/barebones board be able to process the information and saving it in a computer/hard drive? If yes, would the whole thing cost less than 70$? (target: less than 50$).

Do you guys see it possible?

Cheers,
edsa ;).

Not without some sort of dedicated hardware. The amount of data that gets shoved across an HDMI interface is well and truly staggering. Even the old slow HDMI 1.0 is just shy of 5 gigabit. I think we're around 18 now?

Do you guys see it possible?

Totally impossible.

What about a HDMI to Composite converter? How much data do you need to capture?
