An LED tester...

I am just kicking around an idea I had...

I'm going to get an Arduino to slowly ramp up voltage and current looking for that magic value where current begins to grow exponentially with voltage, the idea to monitor every drop of current the LED takes.. I'm hoping with just the voltage drop and current draw ..

eg 2.3v pulls 0.1 2.4v pulls 0.101 2.5v 0.110 2.6v 0.180 ***

The current draw between voltage steps along with the foward voltage drop..

The Arduino would simply calculate max current draw and determine wattage, can this 'knee' jerk current gain be exploited to determine the LED's wattage and foward current without destroying the led?

I'll give it a try but won't if it's not possible.

To determine max wattage of the LED.
