Implementation is another thing. Make all wires as short as possible, solder everything up, no Solderless bread boards. At this stage it becomes more of an art than a science
I would even consider to go as far as soldering the ICs themselves to the board, rather than using sockets. But not sure which is the best option: run the risk of a burned optocoupler that can't be replaced, or run the risk of those optocouplers vibrating loose from their sockets.
