""Open inputs can "float" to undefined values so you may need a pull-up or pull-down resistor...""What would happens If I connect the 3.3 volts to all analog pins to make sure they dont float and then sending a 5 volt signal above the 3.3volts. will it read 5 (higher voltage) or would I damage my arduino??? Well maybe using a resistor to lower the 3.3 to 0.5 volts would be safer????
Why do you insist on using analog readings for digital signals in the first place? It's more work programming, and the readings are much slower.
Read digital signals as digital signals. Don't mess around with trying to convert those to analog readings, which in code you then translate to an on/off signal again.
