analog reference ic?

Is it a good idea to use an integrated circuit for voltage reference as input to the AREF?
I am thinking about using a voltage reference for 2.5v or 3.3v..

any suggestions?

Thanks

It is a good idea only if you need it.
There is an internal 1.1v reference voltage if you want PSU interdependence. However if you want to scale things up from that and external reference is fine. Lots available in the shops just pick a voltage that suits you.

thank you for the replies
and excuse my noobines for not asking complete questions :-[

I am trying to make a toyproject that is battery operated and instead of using a voltage regulator or boost power supply I am thinking of plugging 4NiMh batteries to a boarduino...I am going to experiment with analog inputs so I thought that I need a stable voltage reference since the battery voltage are going to be dropping...

So use the internal 1.1V reference, that is unaffectedly by the supply.

@Mike very useful info. I did not know that!

@ Richard I will use FSR and a LM35....

the boarduino DC uses LM7805 which needs more than 7V input and I only have 4,8V !

You can use one of these to regulate closer to the voltage you want:-

Thank you both for your help
