I have just got a Leonardo.
I can now send keystrokes to any program on my PC.
I have been hankering after this for years - ever since the demise of MSDOS, I think.

any program on my PC.
Is that the program of the "press any key" ![]()
but can you also select the program ?
(WIndows should be completely keyboard accessible (many tabs ALT-ESC etc)
Sorry Rob, I don't understand. I hope my illusions are not about to be shattered.
I'm using Ubuntu. I just wrote a Leonardo sketch to send an 'A' every second. They appear in the input line in the Arduino Serial Monitor or in a document in the Gedit text editor if I select that with a click of the regular mouse.

Sorry to be cryptic,
There is this old joke about manuals stating "press any key" and the man cannot finding it on the keyboard ![]()

Sorry for being slow ....
I'm wondering can I write a sketch which switches between keyboard mode and regular serial mode so it can receive back its own keystrokes. The ultimate endless loop ![]()
And, no, there is no requirement for a serious reply.

you might start with posting your code sofar?
Until you get a little experience under your belt don't send them too fast! ![]()

using wrong keyboard !

I now have a short Leonardo sketch that uses Keyboard.write() to send a character followed by a KEY_RETURN to the Serial Monitor. It then reads the character that the Serial Monitor sends, increments the character and repeats ad nauseum.
The joys or modern technology ![]()

you could make a sketch that fills in URL's in your browser so you just have to watch ...

Most modern BIOS allow you to set these unit for "headless mode" ... No keyboard required (monitor optional,)

Edit...
Sending keystrokes to Excel is also quite useful.

The Excel template I built parses the stream of numbers via formulas, not VBA, so easy to understand... Download the Excel ZIP from link above (right side page near end of article.) It is also in the Exhibition area of the forum
