Why is it when the thunder starts to roll, you then wonder if the power strip your Wi-Fi router is plugged into is really a surge protector? only to remember that it was a temporary power-strip until you bought a surge protector!
The Hi-Fi is temporarily unplugged, in favor of the Wi-Fi. now I feel better, assuming surge protectors actually work... :o

Sometimes they do.

And sometimes they blow up :o
But most are single-use.

Way to make me worry about my PC's power strip with an incoming storm, guys. :slight_smile:

get a whole house surge arrestor.

Always managed to find industrial grade ones when I lived near big city's in the electronic junk stores.
Alas its a little harder in northern Canada.

Often do like Qdeathstar says and mount one for the computer room and TV spurs close to the main box.

And I always put a ground spike in for the cable.
