hi all. i would like to know if any of you have any experience with this hydrogen sensor. ease of use, accuracy or quality. https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10916. also, is is possible to get a dip socket that i can solder to a pcb so that i can easily replace it if it breaks?
They are the MQ series gas sensors.
There are sockets for those sensors, to be able to replace it.
Did you take a look at the datasheet ? The sensor detects for example also alcohol and LPG. So you will not know if H2 is detected or another gas.
This is a page with basic information about the MQ sensors, http://playground.arduino.cc/Main/MQGasSensors
The sensor contains a heating element inside. That makes it unvalid for industrial H2 detection.
