Any Fallout Fans?

I love the lore and world of the Fallout game and now TV series on Prime? From the technology arc to the critique of a technocratic society in a nuclear age JUST before the invention of the transistor (it seems), I can't get enough.

Anyone else? What was your favorite game and have you watched the new series? What did you think?

I always play Skat in the pub with a few mates.

Never played.  I stumbled onto the series on Prime and watched all episodes.  It's different from and better than most of the dreck on TV, if you can get past the profanity.

It's kind of strange seeing Kyle MacLachlan as a villain.  If there's a season two, I'll watch it.

Having grown up where we had three missile silos just outside town / dangerously close to the third strategic target, I have mixed feelings about shows like Fallout. On the one hand, being reminded we were on the cusp of leaving the entire northern hemisphere devoid of life gets me a bit anxious and vomity. On the other, the show is fantastically well done and very entertaining.

This is one of the things I love about the lore. It would be a crime (imo) not to have another season, I hope they can keep it going for a few more at least. There is so much that leaves open questions about the ambiguity of morality, to the point that it's often so muddied that it's arbitrary. And so much of it parallels the world we see today. I would love to see more of the various vaults across America, as each one was permitted carte blanche to run any social experiment it wanted, of course in ways that benefit the respective companies who designed them.

Not in any way to make this discussion political, that's not what I come to Arduino forum, but I couldn't help but see today's mega company names on the name plates of the various firms in the boardroom scene with Cooper Howard eavesdropping. Vault Tec, Robco...Meta, X. Let the best ideas prevail in the spirit of competition to tame the lawless wasteland. And if you can get incredibly rich in the process...well you get the idea.

I really do hope the show keeps going, I've watched it through three times now and I still keep catching little things from the games that are subtly, but so well addressed in the show.
I can say that, as a die hard fan (the game Fallout 4 is a hobby unto itself for me and thousands of others in the Fallout modding community) the show did a great job of addressing certain things about the games that made it ridiculous at times, whether intentional to the game design or not.

One such example is the obvious design flaw of the power armor: why would you leave the power source, a fusion core, exposed on the back so that some agile rogue could easily steal it, trapping the user forever inside? In the games there is no key needed to access the core, so that was a nice update.

Anyway, I could examine and discuss the technology of Fallout all day (Junk Jet, anyone?) - for now, back to coding this year's revisions to my Hallowe'en Fallout Terminal.

Well that certainly wasn't my intention in starting the thread. I hope the show/lore was absurd enough through characters such as the Ghoul that you enjoyed the show more than dreaded those memories.

I understand. Thank you for the reply.

Nope, not a fan.
Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon, Yessssss..

Have not found any TV movie/series any good when ported from a PC game.

Tom... :+1: :coffee: :australia:
PS. I don't have any Fallout either, I buy the correct size boxer shorts.. :grinning:  :grinning:   :+1: :coffee: :australia:

There IS no "correct" size after 40. Gotta change tactics: Under Armor boxer briefs fit the bill.

Agreed. Until Fallout. If you're not a fan, not interested, that's one thong. If, on the other hand you're bored with everything that's come out since Breaking Bad, I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a short.

Thanks for chiming in, sincerely.

Definitely a fan. Played them all (except Fallout76) on the PC.
Here are some of the series locations. I am looking forward to season 2.

I tried, I wanted so badly to enjoy it, but alas. For me, New Vegas, The Capital Wasteland, The Commonwealth are MY worlds to explore and mine only. If I wanted online play I'd play Fortnite.
