I've seen the arduino uno, it is really a wonderful art. One improvement is using ATMEGA8U2 instead of FT232. As ATMEGA8U2 is pin compatible with ATMEGA16/32U2, is there any plan to update the 8u2 to 16/32u2, because the bom will be almost same, while the internal flash size will be double or tripple.

I would say that it is unlikely to happen until after "people" figure out how to do "interesting things" with the existing 8u.
One problem might be sourcing those,as the PS3 jailbreak as obliterated then from the Earth's face and even Teensy boards are now not available...
