Arduinio Uno LCD "Hello, World"; Backlight on/No text displaying

Hello fellow Arduinians,

I have connected my breadboard to the extent of my knowledge following the tutorial wiring schematic and coding. When I power the circuit, the LCD screens' back light turns on but does not display text or "boxes" as some people have had display. I've posted the link to my Dropbox where I've uploaded 5 pictures, 1 of which the circuit is powered. Please help as I'm sure my roommate would not like a broken window and electronics components strewn about the yard.

It would probably be a good idea to provide power to the LCD module via pins 1 and 2.

Hey Don,

Thanks for the help. I overlooked the power supply when i attached the back light connections. I'm a dummy. Have a good day!

P.S. My roommate is thankful too.
