Arduino-0017 and Acer ASpire One

I have installed version 0017 of the IDE onto an Acer Aspire One (751). The splash screen come sup for about half a second then dissapers and that's it. it gets no further.

I have reinstalled Java to no effect.

Version 0016 works fine.

Any suggestions?

What operating system?

You can try deleting the Java/ sub-directory of the Arduino application directory and replacing it with a shortcut to a more recent version of Java.
