The new Version 1.8.0 is supposed to fix the problems with uploading sketches to an Arduino on El Capitan.
It however has made no difference for me.
Now I've disabled SIP and installed the CH34x drivers previously with no success.
Do I have to uninstall these drivers now and if so how would I do this, there is no included uninstaller.
I'm so sick and tired of this problem and yes I know that it is an APPLE Problem. I just don't want to install a Virtual Machine just for the IDE, what an incredible waste of HD Space.
Currently I'm booting into my old Mavericks Partition just for the Arduino IDE but that is such a pain and time consuming.
Actually, your problem may not be an Apple issue. You're most likely still having a CH34x driver problem. Are you sure the driver is compatible with El Capitan? I do know the official Arduino Uno
works with El Capitan and Sierra.
I've only recently upgraded to El Capitan and I'm at 10.10.6 with all the current updates installed. The problem started right off the hop wether it's a real Arduino or a clone.
The only way the port is recognized is if I do a full reboot, then I'm able to upload to the unit only once. After that I cannot do any more uploads without errors.
I at no time have had El Capitan recognize the port when plugged into the system hot, I must always reboot. Wether I have the correct Ch34x drivers or not is a great question. How can I possibly know when each post leads me to a different link and there seems to be no absolutely common fix for this issue.
Thanks for the replies. I think maybe for now I will put a Win 7 VM on my laptop and try if that works.
