Arduino 1.8.5 install error on Windows 10

I installed Arduino 1.8.5 under Windows 10. I fail to launch, and I get the error message:

"C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\WINMM.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact you system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000012f."

Any suggestions for a remedy?

Is this your own personal computer on your own home network ?

Yes, it is my home computer, which is a Mac. I am running Windows 10 as a virtual machine using VMWare 8.5.

Sorry I dont do MAC...
Maybe somebody else can help and why would you not run the IDE under your native OS

I am using Windows 10 so that I can use an Arduino simulator, most of which do not run on the Mac OS.
