Arduino + accelerometer = the ultimate stomper 4x4

This is my first Arduino/robot project. It's a 4x4 toy car that drives around and tries not to flip over, sensing the world with a 3-axis accelerometer and making decisions based on the tuning of its three personality-tuning knobs (adjusting for Courage, Caution, and Patience).

Uses an arduino pro mini and a TB6612FNG driver, along with an RGB LED and a 3-axis accelerometer.

That was a pretty funny video - the way you have it set up, it kinda has a feel of a real driver (in a way).

;D

I played with Stompers all the time as a kid; I had at one time a couple of the original ones (with the foam tires), as well as this styrofoam and plastic log "obstacle course" thing. Playing with them in the sand in grade school...

This seems like a great project; maybe you should add some sound effects via a wav shield or something...

I played with stompers as a kid as well. Loved em. And yes, it does resemble a real driver at times... which is nice since the goal was to try and model a driver's virtues in code.

Next challenge is adding an ir beacon to the mix so it has two objectives: get to a place, and don't flip over. And after that, some sort of memory so it can do some minimal learning about the topography.
