Arduino and Ink Jet Printers

Does anyone have experience with using Arduino to control the operation of an inkjet printer head? I am interested in building a specialized large format inkjet printer. Conceptually it would be similar to a CNC machine but with a InkJet printer head as the controlled device. Based on the position of the printer head, the arduino would then determine which nozzles on the print head would be triggered. You obviously have to have a much more in-depth understanding of inkjet technology than I do.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
