Arduino and Relay

Hello !

I want to connect my Arduino UNO to a One Relay Switch Board.
I also want to connect this relay board to a Fan or TubeLight etc

Relay connections on board are : POLE, NO, NC, and 5V, SIG , GND

Please can any one explain me the connections Please.

Images of Relay circuit are attached

5V and GND should be painfully obvious.

SIG will be connected to a digital pin. Setting that PIN to HIGH will short pole and NC. Setting that pin to LOW will short pole and NO.

These will help you. http://www.buildcircuit.com/how-to-use-a-relay/ http://gampageek.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/normal-0-false-false-false-en-gb-x-none.html http://arduino-info.wikispaces.com/ArduinoPower#4-8

so this relay will be in series with the fan or any appliance...on the positive wires and negative from appliance will directly go to ground.

Please just tell me if I am wrong.

Thanks a lot for Helping me :relaxed:

I also cant figure out how to giv Karma....if it is meant to be given as thanks plz let me knw :)

akshayj: so this relay will be in series with the fan or any appliance...

Yes, so long as the relay can support the voltage/current of the fan or appliance.

on the positive wires and negative from appliance will directly go to ground.

No, one or the other. Not both. Take a look at just about any schematic that involves a switch and a light.

This should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway. IF YOU ARE NOT 100% COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT YOU ARE DOING WHEN DEALING WITH MAIN LINE VOLTAGE, DON'T DO IT. IF YOU HAVE TO ASK ON A FORUM, YOU ARE PROBABLY NOT COMFORTABLE AND SHOULD STOP CONSULT AN ELECTRICIAN.

Thanks a lot for your Help... I'll surely consult a electrician....at the final output time Thnk you once again :)
