Arduino as ISP custom boot loading PCB issue

Using arduinoAsISP, I am getting the following error.

avrdude: stk500_getparm(): (a) protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x01
avrdude: stk500_initialize(): (a) protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x10
avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
this check.

avrdude: stk500_disable(): unknown response=0x12
Error while burning bootloader.

The physical setup I'm using hasn't changed. I'm actually using a custom board I made, with a TFQP32 socket. It's a custom PCB I made for just this purpose. Basically, an UNO running the ArduinoAsISP sketch. Does this error give any clues to the problem? I've probably boot loaded 50 chips with this thing in the past. A year ago was the last time I used it. Now I get this error.

I remember now. I use Gammon's boot loader sketch. It works perfectly!
