Arduino as ISP

Hi All
I successfully used an arduino nano as an isp programmer to upload a sketcht to a bootloaded atmega328p-pu using a breadoard and jumper wires
What I tried next was to use a 6way header and connected it to the ICSP connector on the nano and tried to load a sketch to the 328 but was unsuccessful I think its because the reset on the header is not pin10 as defined in the isp sketch
if a forum member has time could I please be told if I am on the right track
Many Thanks

the reset on the header is not pin10 as defined in the isp sketch

Please explain in more detail. A wiring diagram would be best.

That's correct, Reset on the host ICSP header is the host's reset; the host has to have a pin it can control going to the slave, thus the pin 10 connection.

Thanks Guys
