Arduino AVR board driver 1.6.14 problem

Having installed the latest Arduino AVR board driver 1.6.14, uploading my sketches to my Arduino UNO R3 board failed with the error message:
"avrdude: no programmer has been specified on the command line or the config file

  • Specify a programmer using the -c option and try again"*

Reinstalling the Arduino software had no effect, but returning to the previous driver version did solve the problem. Appearantly there is some incompatibility with the board or the Windows 7 (32bit) USB driver software.

You might try updating the IDE version you are using. I just noticed today that the current version is 1.6.12, whereas I am still using 1.6.9.
