Arduino breadboard template in SVG & other formats

Hi,

A while ago I was wanting to document some circuits I was working on and went looking for an SVG-format electronic breadboard template I could use with Inkscape. The only file I found didn't seem to be actual size so I created my own.

I've just uploaded a variation of my original design that also includes connectors from the Arduino Diecimila alongside the breadboard.

I'm currently using the file to document how to use the MCP23S08 I/O expander (Learning About Arduino with MCP23S08 - LearningAboutArduinoMCP23S08) and here's a thumbnail of the result:

The templates are Public Domain but I'm hoping if anyone adds new component designs they'll send them my way.

The files are available in SVG, PDF and PNG format and you can either use an editor like Inkscape to layout your designs or print them out and draw on top. (Because they're actual size you could lay out the actual components on them too. )

Edit: Oh, I forgot I was going to ask if anyone knew if the original source files for the breadboard/Arduino images from http://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ShiftIn were available anywhere:

Nice on follower  I think the freeduino site has that image available. Keep up the good work!

holy cow thats awesome!

i'm currently working some PCB's you can hook up to your arduino to control a RepRap 3D printing machine, and one of the next things i need to do is create a wiring diagram to show how to wire all the components up.

i'll definitely be using this as a base for my drawings. thank you very much!!!

That is cool. I've been hoping for something like this to use for documenting the Arduino examples and tutorials. There have been a few efforts, but mostly in proprietary file formats (e.g. Visio, which I don't have, unfortunately). This looks great. I tried to follow the link and the site seems to be down. Are the files available anywhere else? Would you be interested / willing to create images for other common components (e.g. resistors, LEDs, potentiometer, pushbutton) for use in documenting examples?

The images in the shift out tutorial were created by Carlyn Maw. I think she was never satisfied enough with them to release the sources, even though they're beautiful illustrations. I'm been trying to convince her to finish them off and publish them, maybe it's time to try again.
