Arduino busted. Want to help a lost soul to understand what part of it broke?

OK. i updated the arduino driver on windows and TADAAA
everything works! even my old 328p, and it still has my old code in it.
i'm gonna graduate my old 328p to its own garduino board. as soon as i draw it.
