I just started and I managed to make the led blink but I'm not sure if everything works ok...
when I push the button the led turns off and then it starts again when I release it
is that normal?
I thought the button resetets the code....
is that right?

Yes,
that is the way it's supposed to be
the software makes the Led blink...
then you reset the whole thing...
the arduino checks if there is new sketch to be uploaded, if not :
the software makes the Led blink...
