How do you tell ss6 which serial port to use? If you’re specifying it by typing in a name somewhere, it may be that the actual device name for your Arduino board has special (non-printing) characters in it. With the Arduino board plugged in, you can try opening the Terminal (in Application > Utilities), and typing:

cd /dev
sudo ln -s tty.usb<TAB> tty.arduino

It will ask you for your password. ( means press the Tab key, it should automatically complete the name). Once you do this, you should be able to use tty.arduino as an alias for the device name.
