Arduino code only works when a USB cable is connected

I am programming an Adafruit ItsyBitsy nRF52840 Express and have encountered a bizarre situation where some of my code only runs properly when a USB cable is connected to the USB port, WITH OR WITHOUT the other end being connected to a computer. Unfortunately I'm not able to share my code, but just wondering if anyone had pointers on where I could look for a solution.

“OR WITHOUT the other end being connected to a computer” :scream:

show us a good image of the wiring.

I prefer an annotated schematic showing all power and ground connections including power supplies with links to technical data. Also include links to each of the hardware devices. I have a feeling something is turning on drawing to much power for the existing hardware.

Sounds like USB cable is providing a path to ground on a loose connector.
