arduino compling error

I have an Apple MacBook Pro running vs 10-13-3 MacHighSierra.
None of my Arduino sketches will compile -- I get a whole page of red error text even when trying to compile simple sketches such as "blink".

I have recently updated the latest vs of MacOS an have Arduino vs 1.6.7

Upon reading several blogs there seems to be a common problem that is linked somehow with the GO language -- what is this and where did it come from?

Never heard of the GO language, either.
I can assure you that it works with High Sierra and IDE 1.6.7. I've been using it myself.
Please provide the literal error messages you are shown
