I have problem to learn ir signal from my Panasonic AC remote, so I tied to connect arduino to an old remote controller by wire. Now I use a relay to toggle the power button so I can turn on/off the AC, I want connect more buttons, is there a better way to connect without using a relay?
Yes you can but it depends on the circuit of the remote. Can you get a schematic? Another way is to measure some voltages with a scope. If one side of each button is connected to each other it becomes relative easy probably with an optocoupler. Make and model numbers help. You could also drive an IR LED in series with a resistor with the arduino and control it that way if you want, no relays or other parts. You will need to find out what coding method it is using and the modulation frequency.
The point about an Air Conditioning module is that the codes have more digits than conventional TV remote controllers.
