Arduino controlle freezer

hi everybody
I have a lab grade freezer (-40C) that we use for research. unfortunately the temperature controller and/or the mother board doesn't work anymore and it seems to be discontinued.
I don't have any experience in programming arduino and I would like to try setting the system up. Is it something that would be to difficult, or with the right guidance is possible to achieve such a goal? can anyone help me with that?

thanks

Post the details of the old controller.
These are usually pretty generic, and a different unit could be swapped in with very little effort.

Alternatively, tak the old controller to a refrigeration specialist to look for a replacement.

They’re nit rocket science, but you’ll spend far more trying too reinvent the wheel.

You might have not too much trouble if the sensor part of the original control is still working.

And even so, maybe not too hard. Maybe even fun, of a certain kind.

This. It will be expensive in terms of time and money. No matter what, you probably value one or the other of those. Maybe even both.

A friend who also has no experience with Arduino had a similar situation to yours.
He replaced the freezer board with one like this one. (+- $ 2,00)

I strongly recommend purchasing a commercial replacement. If you are not experienced in refrigeration compressor control and cycling, attempting to DIY could result in damaging the compressor.

Freezer thermostat would be an obvious choice.
