Arduino crashing

Hi!

So, there is problem with something, really don’t know what, could someone help me?

I have installed Arduino IDE 1.8.5, double click on Arduino shortcut , pops up opening image and immediately disappears.

Tried uninstalling, reinstalling, uninstalling java, reinstalling java, both 32 and 64, install java jdk, nothing.

When i run Arduino_Debug.exe it shows:

Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xmx512M

Problems started when i reinstalled windows, on old instal it was going like it should, but now…well…its not.
I would appreciate your help.

Have you tried to run it as admin?

Yeah, still crashes. :frowning:

Have you tried the online editor?

mario-r: Have you tried the online editor?

Yeah, it works great, but still, i would love to use program.

Did you RE-INSTALL the IDE when you re-installed windows ?
If not you may need to clean out the old installation and start afresh.

Also be aware that cleaning out the old IDE properly may also break the online editor which may also need to be re-installed.

I cannot see which version of windows you are using but win 8.0 to 10 may benefit from install as ADMINISTRATOR which is above a user with admin rights.

If you designated your sketches folder to another location via the preferences it is usually safe but as with all these types of actions it is worth copy it to somewhere safe for the moment.

Attaching a PDF of what I recommend for clean up that has been shown to work well.

CLEAN UP BEFORE INSTALLING ANOTHER COPY OF THE IDE OR ARDUINO CREATE.pdf (345 KB)
