Arduino Create problems on MacOS

I have (re)installed Arduino Create Plugin version 1.2.6 many times on my MacBookAir running MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 and it happily resides (black) in the top menu bar.
Arduino Cloud persists in saying that it cannot find Arduino Create and therefore I cannot upload a sketch to my NodeMCU ESP-12F. The NodeMCU is connected as normal via de USB port. Using the full editor (on the sketch tab of a thing) I should be able to select the board and the port to which it is connected. I can only select a board - the option to select a port is not present. Using the Arduino IDE I can upload sketches to the NodeMCU without any problems.

Please help me to get Arduino Create and as a consequence IoTCloud working.
