Arduino Desktop IDE Keeps Shutting Down After One Verification

Hello all,

I'm new to Arduino. I'm using the desktop IDE and I keep getting the following error after I verify my code one time, make edits, and then attempt to verify again:

Arduino: 1.8.12 (Windows 10), Board: "Arduino Mega or Mega 2560, ATmega2560 (Mega 2560)"

Error compiling for board Arduino Mega or Mega 2560.

This report would have more information with
"Show verbose output during compilation"
option enabled in File -> Preferences.

This happens for every project I work on, so I don't think it has to do with the code itself.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
